As an individual with a learning disability, Corinne came to Hope Services after high school in search of training and advocacy to help her on her path to employment. Hope Services Job Developer, Chris Wright, recognized Corinne’s potential and recommended that she participate in Project SEARCH, a year-long employment training program well-known for helping young adults with disabilities gain competitive and integrated employment.

During Corinne’s immersive internship at Stanford Hospital, she developed her skills through seasonal rotations in Hospitality, Cardiology and Mail Services. Upon graduating, she interviewed for multiple roles before landing her first job at Enjoy Technology. The Bay Area tech company allowed Corinne to develop her technical, clerical and organization skills over the next 2½ years before the company had to close its doors.

When Corinne’s job ended, she was faced with a familiar search for employment. She reached out to her Job Developer for guidance, who believed that her strong social skills would lend brilliantly to the Management Assistant role that was hiring at Hope Services.

Today, Corinne is nine months into her new role and thriving in the people-facing environment. She recalls that during her internship, she most enjoyed the Hospitality rotation: engaging with hospital patients and helping guests navigate the facility. As the Management Assistant at Hope, Corinne enjoys similar interactions with staff and clients, while having the opportunity to further her technical skills.

Since she started her new role, Corinne has improved her phone etiquette, developed greater professionalism and increased her confidence as a person and team member. Most importantly, Corinne is confident in her support system at Hope, who helps her navigate unforeseen challenges to continue progressing in her career.
